Discussion:
[LAU] LADSPA/LV2 reverb particularly suited to 5+ seconds tail

Hey hey,
I'm looking for a reverb plugin (algorithmic rather than convolution) that is
particularly suited to long tails (5+ seconds). Think of your average trance
reverb that will drown pads in lush reverberation.

I usually like G2verb, but with long reverb times it can easily sound grainy,
like you can hear the delays.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Best wishes and thanks,

Jeanette

Have you tried the cathedral presets from the zynaddsubfx/yoshimi
reverb? The reverb is also installed as a stand-alone plugin e.g. by
zyn-fusion.

Hi Christopher,
I know that the Yosh reverb is fantastic for this purpose, but I haven't
seen it in my list of plugins. What's the name?

Best wishes,

Jeanette

I've been keeping my eye out for reverbs other than GVerb and just
installed it on my Arch system. Thanks for the name of the AUR package!

One issue I just ran into is that changing the preset doesn't seem to
change any of the values being used. Is there something I'm missing to
cause the new preset to take effect? This is in Mixbux 4.

Thanks again!

Apparently the built-in MIDI programs do not work. You have to use the
LV2 presets. I don't know about Mixbus, but in Carla I can change them
when I click on the wrench icon and then use the "Load State" button.

That's just it - I don't do anything with MIDI, I'm just using the LV2
plugin. There's no "load state", and no wrench icon. It's got a generic
interface, and choosing the preset from the pulldown has no effect.

zita-reverb (ladspa) should provide a clean 5s reverb.

Thanks Fons, due to crashes with the first suggestion of ZynReverb I
diduse tis. thanks to whoever provided this as LADSPA, should it be yo
yourself: this is a heaven-send for Ecasound. :) I'm just afraid, you
won't like the use it's put to, but there'll be other songs. :)

Best wishes and thanks again,

Jeanette
